Trainer Support Workshop in Brasil

25.8.2008

Recently a workshop has been organized in Brasil to provide interactive support to training organizations who are offering courses leading to one of the independent EXIN exams. This event was hosted by EXIN Brasil on July 29 – 31 in Sao Paulo for South American EXN Partners.

Workshop goals
Trainers had the opportunity to ask direct questions of the EXIN exam development team about the new and existing exam portfolio including the new ISO/IEC 20000 Qualification Program which was released in January 2008 and has since been translated into several languages. Another of the workshop’s objectives was to provide more insight into the exam process for different types of exams so that trainers would have a better idea of the requirements asked of candidates.

Many of the major South American training organizations were represented at the event including ITPartners, Pink Elephant-Brasil, Brunise, Nextvia, Kalendae and other EXIN Partners.

Local expertise
Members of the EXIN exam development team, Suzanne Galletly and Rita Pilon, worked closely with EXIN Brasil colleagues, Luciana Abreu and Isabella Costa, to design workshops that addressed their questions and provided practical training advice tailored to their local needs.

“Through these activities, EXIN is becoming more accessible to its worldwide partners. It is an excellent opportunity to hear the questions and concerns of the training community and being able to provide direct feedback on their issues,” said Pilon, senior coordinator within EXIN’s exam development department.

Reaching out
Trainers in that region had indicated via a survey conducted by EXIN that providing trainings that resulted in certified and satisfied IT service managers was sometimes a challenge. Some of the major concerns that came out of the survey were that trainers did not know enough about the exam itself, that the marking process was not transparent enough, and that the requirements of the training such as the in-course assessment were not always clear.

As a result of the positive feedback from this workshop, EXIN is continuing with several other similar initiatives to reach out to the extensive network of global partners encouraging and assisting in the improvement of quality trainings.
